How do traumatic experiences shape nations and societies? And what can they reveal about who we are today?
🇵🇱 In Poland, collective traumas leave deep emotional marks — fear, anxiety, and a persistent sense of vulnerability. Yet these same experiences also enable rapid mobilization and resilience in times of crisis.
🇩🇪 In Germany, the legacy of violence against ethnic and social groups continues to raise profound questions about responsibility, guilt, victimhood, and belonging.
🤔 History influences our contemporary relationships, our collective fears and obsessions. But can we break free from these inherited patterns – or are we doomed to carry trauma across generations? What does trauma reveal about Poles and Germans, what brings us together or sets us apart?
These questions will be at the heart of a debate featuring Asal Dardan and Karolina Wigura, moderated by Katharina Blumberg-Stankiewicz. The discussion is organized together with Kultura Liberalna and Polnisches Institut Berlin.
